Mary Ann Best

Mary Ann Best is too busy to deal with neck pain. As a businesswoman who is active in the community and who owns and operates a farm with her husband in Rhea County, Best keeps a very tight schedule.
So when neck pain from a previous accident became so severe that she couldn’t even turn her head, she knew she had to find a physical therapy program to fit her fast-paced lifestyle.
“When my rheumatologist recommended physical therapy, I knew right away that I wanted to do it here in Rhea County,” she said. “The physical therapy folks at Rhea Medical Center have a great  reputation. I knew from word of mouth that I would be in good hands.”
Best began working with Gary Reeves, Rhea Medical Center’s physical therapy director, at the outpatient location in the Shop Rite shopping center in Dayton. Reeves evaluated Best’s condition and developed a program of manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and modalities. Within six weeks, Best had regained full motion in her neck.
“I should have come four years earlier,” she said. “I would have saved myself so much pain. I guess I had always thought that I just didn’t have the time to come in for physical therapy three times a week. But Gary worked with my schedule and we managed to squeeze in my appointments. Now I am so glad I took the time to get help.”
Although her condition has greatly improved, Best continues to receive physical therapy. She often brings cookies and baked goods with her as a way of thanking the staff.
“I just love the people at physical therapy,” she said. “With them, it is all about the patient. They are attentive to my needs and committed to seeing me get better. The least I can do in return is bake!”
