One of the goals in building the new Rhea Medical Center facility was to expand surgical capabilities. The new facility includes two enormous operating suites, complete with new lights and equipment. It also includes a special procedures room for minor surgeries that do not require as much equipment.
The surgical department is designed to accommodate expansions in orthopedics, the branch of surgery concerned with disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
