Diabetic Classes at RMC

For people suffering from diabetes, making the lifestyle changes necessary to control the disease can be difficult. Rhea Medical Center is proud to offer an effective diabetic program, coordinated by a registered dietitian and taught by trained healthcare professionals. Classes are designed to cover the objectives outlined by the American Diabetes Association, including:

  • basic information about diabetes
  • self glucose monitoring
  • education concerning short-term complications
  • meal planning
  • label reading
  • goal setting
  • stress
  • medications
  • education concerning long-term complications
  • physical activity

Classes are held in the cafeteria at Rhea Medical Center. The cost is $60 and includes: four classes, a one-hour appointment with a registered dietitian, and an Ultra Touch 2 glucometer. Pending accreditation from the Diabetes Association, Rhea Medical Center hopes to accept insurance for third party reimbursement, in which case the $60 fee will be waved.

To sign up for the class, call central scheduling at 775-8636, or contact Dynamic Dietetics at 339-1415.
